I have been working with kids and families for over 30 years and I enjoy speaking publicly on topics related to adolescent mental health and youth development. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Psychology from St. John's University and my master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from St. Cloud State University. In addition to helping my clients, I am the Executive Director and founder of DIRT GROUP Global. DIRT GROUP is a resiliency and trauma-informed children's mental health application focused on gardening, farming, food, and creative arts projects. I was born and raised in Mogadishu, Somalia and in Kenya: leaving Somalia due to prevailing civil war in the 90s. I have lived in the U.S. the last two decades. I completed a Master’s Degree in counseling from Saint Mary’s University. I worked for three years in Intensive Residential Treatment as a Clinical Team Lead. I enjoy helping people recover from mental illness and substance use to lead the kind of life that they always wanted to lead. They are experienced in assisting you with managing symptoms to remain in your desired living environment and to reach your goals.
I am the Office Manager at Behavioral Health Advocacy Services, LLC. I am responsible for all of the Office Administration, HR and Financial aspects of the business. I try to keep our office organized so we can best care for the needs of our clients. I have a background in Management, Community Based Support Services and Medical billing.
