Heather Johnson
Treatment Director

I am the Treatment Director at Behavioral Health Advocacy Services. I work individually with each client to come up with a treatment plan and goals that work best for them. I strive to meet people where they are in life and am passionate about helping them achieve their goals. I have a bachelor's degree in Community Psychology and am also an active Mental Health Practitioner providing ARMHS services to our clients. I work closely with the homeless community and individuals facing chemical dependency problems. Additionally, I support my coworkers who serve the Somali community with their everyday struggles. We prioritize individualized, person-centered care and collaborate closely with our clients.

If you are seeking services for yourself or referring someone to our team, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you and determining how we can best assist you.

Your child is the center of your life. You love them with all your heart. But they're hurting. Perhaps they cry inconsolably, fight with other children, fight with you, have nightmares, or wet the bed. You're worn out trying to help them, and don't know what to do next. You wonder if their behaviors have to do with the stressful experiences they've endured in their short lives, but you don't know how to help.

I work specifically with caregivers (parents, foster providers, etc.) and their young children (ages birth through five) together because caregivers are the primary source of healing for young ones. I utilize Child Parent Psychotherapy, an evidence-based therapy created for families of children who have experienced significant life stressors.

I will come to you! Meeting in your home is convenient for you, and also puts your child at ease so therapy doesn't feel so scary. You got this! You are not alone. Together, we can build a better understanding of your child and how to help them grow into happy, healthy children.
